Silver Linings & Fallen Angels

Random, sardonic, sarcastic, self-deprecating and rarely brilliant thoughts on sports, pop culture and life in general from a northern Minnesotan.

About Me

My photo
B
Virginia, Minnesota, United States
I'm a 32-year-old starving writer/broadcaster - plying my trade on Minnesota's Iron Range - aka the End of the Earth or Where People Know How to Drink. I am currently unattached and have been called "the dumbest smart kid I know" by my best friend. I've also been told I was born with three strikes against me: 1) I was born in hillbilly country in the Appalachians of West Virginia; 2) I'm 100-percent Finn by heritage; 3) I'm an Iron Ranger (via both my parents). I've spent most of my 32 years in one place or the other around the Range, hence my sporting allegiances are to Minnesota teams and transplanted Minnesota athletes (including Randy Moss, Kevin Garnett, Torii Hunter and Marion Barber III). Three things I know to be true: 1) Randy Moss is the most gifted football player of all time; 2) with the Vikings, the wheels always come off; 3) outside of hockey, Minnesota fans are some of the most fickle in the nation. Besides that, all you need to know about me is that I don't know much.

The marrying kind of twins and have you seen Candice?

And I thought stuff like this only happened in West Virginia

(I can say that because I was born there.)

Check out this story about a set of British twins who were separated at birth and adopted by different parents. They met later in life, felt an inevitable attraction and were wed.

All I can say is: Wow, what are the odds?

Woot, woot!

This is my new favorite web site. The sell just one product a day until it is sold out. No more, no less. And the prices are dirt-cheap. Ingenius, I tell you. Make sure you check out their t-shirt design site as well. Clever, very clever.

Wherefore art thou, Nico?

Catch up with Nico Sacchetti, the erstwhile Virginia/MI-B hockey star who was drafted in the second round by the Dallas Stars last summer. Sacchetti is skating with the Omaha Lancers this season and next year will don a University of Minnesota sweater.

Have you seen my wife?

So I was bored last night and made up a t-shirt commemorating my search for my long-lost wife. If you're interested in buying one (haha), e-mail me. I need at least five other buyers (you have to order them by at least the half-dozen).

Obviously, I have too much time on my hands.
